You will love this medley of nature-inspired art from Alaska with acknowledgements to Indigenous cultures. The artist's inspiration comes from her deep need to love, honor, and respect the planet. Gender-neutral artwork makes this deck stand out.

In addition to a beautiful nature-themed two-piece box, each card has gold edges, and a guidebook is included as well. There's so much thought that went into this small guidebook (the same size as the cards)! A story-style narration explains the meaning of the cards. Please note that this listing is for the First edition of the Gentle Tarot deck.

As there are different versions of the deck and full-size guidebook available, we have the following options for purchase:

The deck is a classic 78 card deck. Some of the cards are lightly based on the Rider-Waite deck, however many of the illustrations are the result of complete surrender to creative/spiritual process. Motifs and symbols, along with colors, have been used throughout the deck to make for easy recognition and to assist with remembering the meanings of the cards.

The minor arcana labels have been slightly modified, Swords have become Thunder and Pentacles have become Stones.

The cards have color coded rims to match their element:.

Major Arcana - Spirit - Purple
Cups - Water - Blue
Wands - Fire - Red
Thunder - Air - Yellow
Stones - Earth - Green


Mariza Ryce Aparicio-Tovar, founder of Mari in the Sky, an indigenous-owned publishing house, brings her rich Mexican and North American heritage to life in The Gentle Tarot. Based in Homer, Alaska, Mariza's art explores mental health, self-awareness, and environmental stewardship. An Anchorage Museum Residency Fellow and Rasmuson Foundation IAA Grant Recipient, her impactful work has been featured by the Alaska Humanities Forum, embodying a powerful fusion of cultural reverence and a call for collective well-being.
